Huey is a handsome 2-year-old, 56 lb boy who we suspect is a Labrador mix, though as a rescue, this is not guaranteed. He's an athletic and personable companion with a wonderful balance of adventure and affection. His expressive ears are sure to capture your attention, and they help him stay attuned to everything around him! Huey has been living in a loving foster home, where he's mastered important life skills, making him ready for his forever family. Unlike puppies, rescue dogs like Huey come with a well-understood personality, so you can be confident about his quirks. With a confident and loving person by his side, along with some basic structure and consistency, Huey is sure to succeed.
Ideal Home
Huey thrives with boundaries and a structured environment. He's not suited for apartment living as he deeply enjoys running and playing in a yard. He also needs a calm home without the constant hustle and bustle of busy cities, as leash walking in busy areas is still a work in progress for him. While Huey has done well in busy homes with children and other dogs in the past, long-term living with children is not ideal for him. He enjoys visiting with kids but prefers a peaceful home environment for himself.
Ongoing Health
Huey is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention, and he has been spayed/neutered. He has also received extensive medical care, including any recommended surgeries or dental work.
Training & Support
Huey is incredibly smart, motivated, and responds well to confident leadership. He is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. He enjoys following his people around and being close to them without being intrusive. Huey does exhibit resource guarding, specifically around food, with other dogs. His foster has successfully managed this by feeding dogs in their crates and not offering treats or table scraps. This behavior is easily managed with the right approach, or it can be avoided entirely in a one-dog household.

Transporation
Huey is available for adoption anywhere in the US. We offer transport to NV, MT, CO, UT, ID, OR, WA, Canada, and the East Coast. Transport options include a USDA-licensed semi-truck for PNW adoptions and a private, air-conditioned van or bus for East Coast adoptions.
