Meet Benny, the resilient and silly Sato! This 7-year-young, 33-pound island dog is a true testament to a spirit that just won't quit. Benny's journey hasn't been the easiest, but he hasn't let that dampen his love for life! He's a charming mix of an independent gent and a loving companion. Now that he's successfully completed heartworm treatment, Benny is feeling fantastic and his true, silly personality is shining through. He's an expert lounger, perfectly content to snooze while you're away. He loves his crate as a private nap sanctuary, but only if the door stays wide open – Benny prefers to have his freedom! While he cherishes his independent nap time, he'll gladly join you for an occasional, heartwarming snuggle session.
Ideal Home
Benny is looking for an understanding, patient home that can appreciate his sight disability, respect his boundaries, and celebrate his progress. He would do best in a home with older children who can understand he can't see well and can respect his space. He can be reactive to things that surprise him on walks, so a handler who can guide him confidently is key.
Ongoing Health
Benny is partially blind due to untreated glaucoma from his past. He requires daily eye medication for life to keep his eye pressures comfortable and stable. His medication runs about $50/month, and he handles his routine like a champ! Benny is waiting for his heartworm retest in July.
Training & Support
Benny navigates the backyard beautifully and can dodge trees like a pro when he's playing, despite his limited vision. He can occasionally bump into things, but don't underestimate his agility!
