Gunner is a handsome 3-year-old, 50-pound black and tan hound mix who was rescued from a rural small-town dog pound. He's a good boy who is crate-trained, comes when called, and rides well in a vehicle. Gunner enjoys leash walks, tolerates baths, and absolutely loves receiving affection and petting. He's also a big fan of toys, treats, and playing with other dogs. Given the heat in Texas, Gunner is happiest when he can relax inside on the couch with air conditioning. He'll venture out for potty breaks and playtime with his doggie friends, but he's always eager to get back inside to cool off. As a hound, Gunner can get excited by squirrels and will bark at people, dogs, and cats he sees. He's also been known to counter-surf and raid the garbage if cabinets aren't secured! Overall, Gunner is a typical goofy and happy hound.

Gunner would thrive in a home where he can enjoy indoor comforts, especially in warm weather. He enjoys the company of other dogs and loves human attention.
Ongoing Health
Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-negative. He is up-to-date on monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Training & Support
Gunner is crate-trained and comes when called. He needs continued guidance with barking at passersby and other animals. Securing cabinets and preventing counter-surfing will also be important.
