Luke

Luke is a big, bold, and loving cattle dog with a heart of gold! He's about 5 years old and, despite his imposing size, he's a giant marshmallow underneath, loving belly rubs, butt scratches, and a good game of chase. Luke enjoys playing outside and will always be ready for an invitation to join in the fun, though he does get to pick the game! He has excellent house manners, knows basic commands, and automatically offers a sit and a paw shake at mealtime. Luke is neutered, fully vaccinated, and up-to-date on flea, tick, and heartworm preventative. He gets very excited for walks and car rides, and while his leash manners are a work in progress, he's a fast learner with two basic obedience courses already under his belt. Luke loves to be by his person's side, whether that's on the couch, at your feet while you work, or following you everywhere you go. He warms up to new people with a little patience and treats, and he gets along well with the female dog in his foster home, tolerating the resident male dog.

Ideal Home

Luke would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, and an all-adult household would be best, as he shows a preference for women.

Ongoing Health

Luke is neutered, fully vaccinated, and on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.

Training & Support

Luke's leash manners are a bit rough, and his foster home is working on this. With continuing positive reinforcement training, he will learn to be more comfortable meeting new people, though he will always be a bit guardy and alert you to visitors and delivery vans. Experience with cattle dogs and heelers is preferred.
