Meet Hocus, a majestic 75lb Lab mix who is the perfect blend of outdoor adventurer and indoor lounge companion. Hocus is a "happy, sweet boy" who has truly blossomed in his foster home and is ready to find his forever pack. If you love the great outdoors, Hocus is your guy! He thrives on physical activity and currently enjoys three hours of exercise a day. He is a superstar on the trail with "amazing recall," making him a dream companion for free-hiking with other dogs. Whether it’s a long hike or a trip in the car (which he absolutely loves), Hocus is always up for an adventure. After a day of fun, he is perfectly calm in the house and loves nothing more than lounging in a sunny backyard. Hocus is a polite housemate who is fully house-trained and non-destructive. He is highly food-motivated and already knows a variety of commands, including sit, stay, come, drop, and down. While he is crate trained, he has earned enough trust to sleep outside his crate on a dog bed at night. Hocus is a "dog’s dog" who needs a home with another canine sibling to run and play with. Because he can be a bit shy with new people and sudden movements, he is looking for a patient, active family who understands that trust is earned. While he isn't a "cuddle bug" right away and prefers his personal space, his loyalty to "his people" is deep. Hocus is a loyal, athletic, and gentle soul who just needs a patient hand to guide him. Once you’re in his inner circle, you’ll have a dedicated companion for life!
Ideal Home
Hocus thrives on physical activity and needs at least three hours of exercise daily. He would do best in a quieter neighborhood where he can focus on walks and enjoy sniffing. He needs a home with another dog to play with and a yard to enjoy. He cannot live in an apartment.
Ongoing Health
Hocus is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations.
Training & Support
Hocus is house-trained and crate-trained, though he prefers sleeping on a dog bed. He knows commands such as sit, stay, come, drop, and down. He will pull on a collar and leash, so a front-clip harness is recommended. He is flight risk with strangers and will run from people he doesn’t know, but has great recall for his people.
