About Tommy

Meet Tommy – The Gentle Giant with the Million-Dollar Smile

Tommy is a sweet, 3-year-old, 75-pound German Shepherd mix who was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. He came to us very shy, fearful, and unsure of the world, likely due to a difficult past. With the help of patient and gentle fosters, Tommy has blossomed into the most loyal, calm, and loving companion. He finds comfort in his kennel, knows how to use a doggy door, and loves lounging on the porch, soaking up the sun, and sniffing the breeze with a happy smile. Tommy is a slow-paced, easygoing guy who will be your quiet shadow and loyal friend once he trusts you.

Ideal Home

Tommy requires a slow warm-up period and a patient adopter who understands that trust is built quietly and steadily on his timeline. He would likely thrive in a home with another confident, friendly dog who can help him feel braver and more secure during new experiences.

Ongoing Health

No specific health conditions are mentioned.

Training & Support

Tommy is still learning to build trust, so adopters will need to be patient and consistent. His foster family is committed to being an ongoing resource for his success and will gladly take him back if the adoption isn't the right fit.

Application Details:

  • Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
  • You will be connected with the placement for a video chat once you complete the initial screen.
  • Transports run every few weeks, and dogs will be on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
  • This is a volunteer-run rescue, and adopters should be serious about moving forward in the adoption process. Please ensure all decision-makers in your household are on board before applying.

Transporation

Tommy is located in Houston. He can be transported to an approved adopter once he is vetted and ready to travel.
