Messi - Reduced Adoption Fee

Hi, I'm Messi! I'm a 4-year-old American Bulldog mix, weighing just under 100lbs. I came to Mississauga Animal Services after being surrendered, and now I'm looking for my unicorn home – a special family that can help me continue to grow into the big sweetheart the shelter staff know and love. I've had a bit of a rough journey. Before arriving at the shelter, I spent some time struggling on the streets, so I can be cautious around new people at first. The shelter calls it "stranger danger." Once I trust you, though, I'm incredibly sweet and affectionate. I tend to warm up to women a little faster, and I absolutely love working for treats! I'll also make sure you never forget when it's breakfast or dinner time. I'm neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and fully vaccinated, so I'm ready to start my next chapter.

Ideal Home

I'm a big boy, weighing around 85-90 pounds, so I'll need a confident and capable handler. I'd love a home with access to a backyard where I can toss my toys around, stretch my legs, and enjoy the occasional zoomie session. I'd likely do best in a home without small pets and in an adult-only household (18+).

Ongoing Health

I have food allergies, so I'm currently on a hypoallergenic diet and can only have hypoallergenic treats to help keep me feeling my best.

Training & Support

I can be cautious around new people at first. Once I trust you, though, I'm incredibly sweet and affectionate. When it comes to other dogs, I'm a bit selective. My excited, confident energy can be a lot for some dogs, so proper introductions and compatibility will be important.
