Velma

Velma is a gentle giant with a heart as big as her size! She appears to be a Great Dane, though her exact lineage is a mystery. Regardless, she has all the charm of the breed, with long legs, a regal presence, and a sweet, low-energy disposition. Velma was found as a stray, and though her ears were cropped at some point, they now add to her unique and endearing look. She's a "Velcro dog" who loves to be by her people's side, making her the perfect companion for anyone seeking a devoted furry friend.

Ideal Home

Velma would thrive in a home where she's treated like the oversized baby she is. She enjoys the company of other calm, respectful dogs, especially puppies and smaller breeds, but people are her absolute favorite. She doesn't enjoy being left outside alone and would much rather be indoors with her family, supervising their activities or enjoying a nap nearby.

Ongoing Health

Velma tested positive for heartworms upon entering our program and has completed most of her treatment. She's in the final recovery stage and currently has temporary exercise restrictions. Her adopter will need to follow their veterinarian's recommendations until she is officially cleared. Velma is fully vetted and spayed.

Training & Support

Velma is house-trained and settles into a home routine beautifully. She navigates doorways with ease, but indoor staircases can still be a bit intimidating for her. With patience and encouragement, she's steadily building her confidence.
