About Paloma

Paloma is an absolutely wonderful 1.5-year-old, 74lb cane corso mix. She embodies everything that people love about mastiff breeds – she is incredibly loyal and bonds deeply with her person, she is strong-willed and very smart, and has the cutest body wiggles you have ever seen! Paloma was returned to us by her previous owner because they didn't have time for her and kept her as an outside dog. She was understandably scared and confused at first, but in foster care, she has shown us just how wonderful she is. She is extremely friendly with all people and has shown zero signs of stranger danger. She is terrific with other playful dogs around her size and has played with many dogs from 40-80lbs and done beautifully with all of them. She does have a more alpha personality, so if she is adopted into a home with another dog, they should be more neutral or submissive. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats for this lady! Paloma loves to train and is very in tune with her foster, responding to sounds so readily. She redirects easily thanks to her deep bond with her human. Because of her love of training, we believe she has the ability to be a service dog if given the opportunity. Paloma is a high-energy young dog who is looking for an active home where she can get the breed-appropriate exercise she needs, at least 1.5 hours per day. While she is high-energy, she also loves curling up in a little donut next to her human and can be very chill when she's getting the fulfillment she needs.

Ideal Home

Paloma needs an active home where she can get at least 1.5 hours of exercise per day. She is great with dogs her size but would do best with a neutral or submissive canine companion. No cats for this girl due to her high prey drive.

Training & Support

Paloma is working on leash and crate training. She responds well to redirection and training, but her adopter should be dedicated to continuing this work. She may vocalize for 10-20 minutes when first put in her crate, but she will settle. An adopter should be excited and willing to help her work through this as she is just learning indoor living. She may pee with excitement in her crate if she is out of her routine.
