Brownie is a 4-year-old, 35 lb male Labrador mix who was rescued as a puppy and treated for severe mange. While this has left him with some scars and patches of white fur, it hasn't dampened his spirit! Brownie is a bundle of energy and affection, always ready for a good time. He has a particular fondness for water and will happily splash around whenever given the chance. He loves people, thrives on attention, and enjoys visitors, though he can be a bit of a toy destroyer due to his love for chewing. After spending four years in a shelter, Brownie is ready for a home where he can finally experience the joys of walks and consistent companionship. He's a sweet, friendly dog who truly deserves a committed adopter ready to help him channel his zest for life and provide him with the loving environment he's been waiting for.
Ideal Home
Brownie needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He requires a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the behaviors and needs of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly preferred, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer is a must. A high level of patience and tolerance is essential, as Brownie is not house-trained and needs time to adjust.
Ongoing Health
Brownie has recovered from severe mange, which may have left some lasting scars and patches of white fur. He has received extensive veterinary care including spay/neuter, DHPPI vaccines, Rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are provided.
Training & Support
Brownie is not house-trained and has a strong urge to chew, often resulting in destroyed toys and worn teeth from gnawing on inappropriate items. He becomes stressed when confined and does not tolerate being crated. He has not yet been leash-trained and can be anxious during transport. He will require consistent exercise, structure, patience, and positive reinforcement to help him channel his energy and learn new behaviors.
