About Cody Clegane

Cody is a very sweet, energetic, and gentle giant of a boy, who is just 2 years old. He was returned to us because of his prey drive with cats, but he is a sweetheart with everyone and everything else, including other dogs! He absolutely loves to cuddle and will happily settle in for a nap, especially if a human is involved. Cody enjoys playing with stuffed animals and will even "make biscuits" on them like a cat. He's also a big fan of sniff walks, watching the world go by, and vigorous games of chase.

Ideal Home

Cody would thrive in a home without cats, but would likely do well with another dog. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for him to safely expend his energy. He is still learning to understand his size and can be a bit clumsy, so a home that can help him with this would be great.

Ongoing Health

Cody experiences seasonal allergies that make him itchy during the summer months. He also dislikes baths and nail trims, and will need medication (trazodone) before vet appointments for these procedures.

Training & Support

Cody is house-trained and crate-trained, readily using his crate as his "box" for nighttime. He has been introduced to leash walking with positive results, but can get excited and pull. He also has a tendency to counter surf, which is trainable. He knows several commands, including sit, stay, speak, high five, paw, come here, drop it (especially for a treat), and various potty-related cues. He is still learning "no jumping" and "no pulling," but understands the commands.

Application Details:

  • Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
  • Applications are processed virtually, and dog meets are by appointment only for approved applicants.
  • We are a foster-based rescue, so there is no central location to view all available dogs.
  • We highly recommend a 2-week shutdown and decompression period for dogs adjusting to a new home.
  • While Cody is house-trained in his foster home, an adjustment period in a new environment should be expected.

Transporation

Cody is located in the Rochester, NY area and transport is available within a several-hour radius, including Canada (provided puppies are old enough for rabies vaccination to cross the border).
