Meet Norman!
Norman is a snuggly four-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix who weighs 73 pounds. He's affectionately nicknamed the “velvet hippo” due to his gentle and goofy soul. Norman lives for cuddles, comfy dog beds, and quality time with his people. He’s a classic couch potato with a silly streak, often flopping onto his back mid-snuggle with an adorable grin. Walks, training games, and belly rubs are among his favorite activities, and he truly shines when given love and structure. His routine is flexible, and he’s happy as long as he has someone to nap near and a little mental stimulation each day. Norman will come with everything he needs to settle in: a crate with pad and cover, two dog beds, a dog cot, and his favorite toys. He’s eager to share his big heart with a loving, committed family who’ll continue guiding him through life with kindness.
Ideal Home
Norman does best living in a calm, structured environment with a secure, fenced yard and no small children. He is compatible with older, respectful kids and some dogs, provided slow introductions are made.
Ongoing Health
Norman is up-to-date on his vaccinations and microchipped.
Training & Support
Norman is crate trained, house-trained, and knows several commands including “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “place.” He’s currently mastering “leave it” and responds well to positive reinforcement and consistency. Continued obedience training and positive reinforcement will help him stay confident and successful on walks. Norman's adoption includes four professional training sessions and a full month of behavioral guidance from a consultant to help him settle in. He is selective with both dogs and new people and has shown reactivity in certain situations. While Norman has had a bite incident involving a neighbor, those familiar with him describe it as an accident in a specific circumstance. Inside the home, he’s never displayed people-reactivity, but outside, he needs careful introductions and continued guidance.
