About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. This sweet boy, also known as Buddy, was rescued from the streets and then saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. He's a resilient and adaptable dog who absolutely adores his people and is looking for his forever family. Comet has a high, but not obnoxious, energy level and loves to zoom around the yard. He has a balanced playstyle and is comfortable sharing his space, showing no food or resource aggression. He is also very affectionate and enjoys cuddle time. Comet's favorite thing is to please, making him an easy-to-train companion.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to snuggle and play with. He has been around indoor cats and children and does well with them, but we typically recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. He can be a bit wary of men, but with patience and consistency, he warms up beautifully, as he has with his foster dad.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy who has been neutered.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his kennel without whining, and he doesn't pull on the leash. He hasn't had any accidents in the house since being in foster care and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, but he is crated when unsupervised because he has a tendency to taste-test things.
