Hi, I’m Sorcha! My foster family affectionately calls me Saint Sorcha because they tell me I’m an absolute saint. While I don’t like to dwell on my past, I found myself in a crowded shelter with severely infected feet and wounds all over my body. My foster mom suspects my foot infection went untreated, and my previous family abandoned me instead of seeking care. Due to my inability to walk or stand properly, she believes I was attacked and couldn't defend myself. Fortunately, I was transferred to a rescue program where I received urgent medical attention. Despite a long list of initial health issues, I remained a good girl, which earned me the nickname “Saint Sorcha.”
Now, I'm a happy and energetic Bull Terrier! My feet are still larger than average, and due to prolonged infection, they won't ever look "normal." I might need pain medication in the future due to early arthritis, but that won’t stop me from living my life to the fullest! My absolute favorite thing is cuddling on the couch with my foster dad, followed closely by chasing falling leaves, meal times, snack times, playing tug, and charming my feline foster siblings. Unfortunately, due to a past attack, I can get overstimulated around other dogs, triggering my fight-or-flight response. However, I am more than happy to live with bully-savvy cats and older children (10+) with proper introductions. I can be a little too enthusiastic when meeting new people inside, but I settle down immediately once leashed. I'm always polite when meeting people on walks and at the vet.
Ideal Home
I would thrive in a calmer household with a fenced yard. While I walk nicely on a leash, seeing other dogs can cause my brain to "turn off," making a yard essential for my safety and comfort. I’m an excellent patient when it comes to taking medication and would gladly teach a class on “the right way to behave when getting your feet soaked.” My greatest wish is to be with my people, ideally on their lap, on the couch, and under a blanket. If you work from home, I’m your pup! I’m also a crate angel and am happy to sleep there if you need to focus on work. My foster family believes I might prefer men, as I have a BIG LOVE for my foster dad and love to sing my "bull terrier songs" whenever I see him.
Ongoing Health
My feet are still larger than average due to prolonged infection and will never look "normal." I may require pain medication in the future due to early arthritis.
Training & Support
I am an angel in a crate. While I can be enthusiastic when meeting new people inside, I settle down immediately on leash. I walk very nicely on leash, but my reaction to other dogs can be overwhelming.
