Sentry is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. His mother, Wanda, weighs approximately 55 pounds. Sentry was rescued with his mother and siblings from a rural area known for animal abandonment and was born during a Texas freeze. He has grown up in a loving foster home and is described as a happy, affectionate, goofy, and playful puppy who loves people and other dogs. Sentry is potty trained and is becoming a confident and well-rounded dog. He is outgoing, friendly, and enjoys making new friends. He has been raised with other dogs and children and has done well with both. He is continuing to work on his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. Due to his age and need for continued socialization, homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are preferred. A home with another friendly, well-mannered dog is preferred to help mentor Sentry, but if you do not currently have a dog, a proactive plan for continued socialization through training classes, playdates, or daycare is essential.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained and is eager to learn. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is important for building his lifelong confidence.
