This is Ruby! And that grin? Completely real. Eight months old, 40-45 pounds, hound mix... and one of the sweetest souls we've had come through our doors in a long time. When Ruby arrived, she was shut down and scared, and it truly broke our hearts. But here's the thing about dogs like Ruby: given the right environment, the right approach, and a little patience, they surprise you every single time. That's exactly what she's doing! We've been working with Ruby using our CRT methodology to build her confidence from the ground up. No pressure, no rush, just Ruby learning at her own pace that the world is actually a pretty good place. She's still a work in progress, but wow... the progress is real. What we know about Ruby right now: she's around 8 months old, 40-45 lbs, a hound mix who is as sweet as they come. She came in very fearful but is coming out of her shell more every day. Ruby loves other dogs; having a canine buddy has been a big part of her confidence-building. She responds beautifully to calm, gentle consistency and is already showing us who she really is, and we like her a lot!
Ideal Home
Ruby needs a foster or adoptive home that will let her set the pace, stays calm and positive (she notices everything), is dog-friendly (a furry roommate would make her very happy), and wants to be part of her continuing journey. She also needs a home that loves a good breakthrough moment, because she's full of them!
Ongoing Health
All our dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm (or their treatment is covered).
Training & Support
Ruby is a work in progress and is benefiting from our CRT methodology to build her confidence. Patience and gentle consistency are key to her continued success.
