Meet Norman!

Norman is a sweet, 4.5-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix who weighs in at a solid 73 pounds. His tortilla chip ears are just one of his many charming features, and he's often called the "velvet hippo" because of his incredibly soft fur and gentle nature. Norman is a big fan of cuddles, comfy beds, and spending quality time with his favorite people. He's a bit of a couch potato with a funny side, often rolling onto his back during snuggles to show off his adorable grin. Walks, training games, and belly rubs are high on his list of favorite activities, and he truly blossoms with love and a consistent routine.

Ideal Home

Norman would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard. He does best without small children. He can be compatible with older, respectful children and some dogs, provided introductions are slow and careful.

Ongoing Health

Norman is healthy and up-to-date on all his vaccinations.

Training & Support

Norman is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows commands like "sit," "stay," "down," and "place," and is working on "leave it." He responds very well to positive reinforcement and consistency. He can be selective with new people and dogs and has shown reactivity in certain situations outside the home, requiring careful introductions and continued guidance. His adoption includes four professional training sessions and a full month of behavioral guidance from a consultant to ensure a smooth transition.

Norman is currently located in Durham, NC, and will remain with his current family until a suitable home is found. Long-distance adoptions are considered.
