This handsome five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix is a bundle of energy and affection, with a sleek black coat and charming white accents. Blue is the perfect adventure buddy who also loves to cuddle. He enjoys playing fetch, tug-of-war, and racing like the wind in open fields. When it's time to relax, he's happy to lounge quietly, snooze, or keep your feet warm.
Ideal Home
Blue would thrive in a calm, predictable, and low-traffic environment. He needs a fenced yard or regular access to outdoor space for running and exploring. Due to his anxiety and potential for territorial behavior, he must be the only pet in the home and is not compatible with cats. He would do best in a home without young children, as he can be overwhelmed by high energy and loud environments. An experienced and patient caregiver who understands behavior management and is committed to positive reinforcement training is essential.
Ongoing Health
Blue has allergies and is currently on a fish-based diet. He receives a yearly allergy shot to help manage his condition.
Training & Support
Blue is a smart, food-motivated dog who knows commands like sit, stay, come, paw, and spin. He is house-trained and crate-trained. He can exhibit territorial behavior and has bitten two dogs who approached him too closely while with his guardian, which appears to stem from protectiveness and anxiety. He has shown a loving bond with a child in his current home. To help him succeed, a two-week boarding training program with a professional trainer will be covered prior to placement, followed by a personalized training plan and continued trainer support.
