Pecan is a 2-year-old, neutered Treeing Walker Coonhound with a calm, gentle, and sweet demeanor. He was rescued after a reported history of being kept in isolation outdoors for about a year and a half, confined in a makeshift kennel with a barrel for shelter and exposed to extreme weather. Despite his past, Pecan is shy and timid but has shown no aggression towards people, other dogs, or cats, with only mild startle responses to sudden noises. He has made significant progress since his rescue, becoming more curious, affectionate, and enjoying cuddles. Pecan was house-trained in just two days and, as is typical for his breed, has an excellent sense of smell and enjoys tracking. He is resilient and deserves a loving, permanent home to continue learning how to be a dog.
