Lucy is a 5-year-old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog mix with a heart full of love to give! She was surrendered to Kind Spirits Rescue Dogs Pet Lifeline when her previous owner could no longer care for her, and thankfully, they allowed us to spay her before she came to us. After her surgery, her owner decided she could best thrive in a loving home, and we were happy to take her in. Now, Lucy is enjoying life in a private foster home in Texas with a pack of eight other dogs, learning all about what it means to be loved and included.
Lucy is a charming, smaller-sized Blue Heeler, a breed known for their intelligence and loyalty. She's observant and smart, though she can be a little bossy with some dogs – but don't worry, it's usually just her way of setting boundaries! For the most part, she's pretty mellow and easy-going, always ready for a good time. She's a champion at fetch and completely ignores cats, making her a great companion for many households. However, she can be a bit peculiar around very small dogs, a quirk that makes her uniquely Lucy!
Ideal Home
Lucy would do best with someone who is familiar with herding breeds and understands their unique needs and intelligence. She thrives on routine and enjoys being part of the family's activities. While she's generally good with most dogs, if she doesn't click with another dog, she might try to nibble their heels – a very Heeler-like behavior! She is a bit weird around small dogs, so a home without them might be best.
Ongoing Health
Lucy is healthy, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all her vaccines and preventatives.
Training & Support
Lucy is a well-trained girl! She is potty trained, crate trained (though she prefers to sleep near you), and leash trained. She walks nicely in public and is a great car rider. Lucy can be timid with new people and needs a little time to warm up, so patience and a gentle approach will go a long way. You can expect some classic Heeler behavior, like supervising everyone, following her people from room to room, and the occasional dramatic side-eye when she's judging your life choices – it's all part of her charm!
