Louie (aka Nipsey)

Louie, also known as Nipsey, is a young American Pitbull weighing around 70 lbs. He has eyes that will melt your heart and is a sweet, big baby who enjoys splooting on the couch. Louie had a rough start and is slowly building his confidence. He's been working on his socialization and behavior training, and while he was sensitive to a lot of action at doggy daycare, he's now in a quieter environment where he's thriving. He's not a big fan of fetch, but he loves cuddles once he trusts you, often trying to crawl into your lap! Louie is good on a leash, enjoys car rides, and is treat-motivated when comfortable. He's mastering the "place" command, which is useful for meal times and getting ready for walks. He requires patience and understanding, especially regarding new people reaching for him, but he warms up over time and is doing much better with a variety of people.

Ideal Home

Louie would do best in a quiet home with a 6ft fence and someone who understands his breed. He does better with women and would ideally be the only animal in the home, as he has had some disagreements with more assertive dogs. He would not do well in an apartment or condo.

Training & Support

Louie may need continued training and definitely requires patience from his forever person. He is still working on his confidence and comfort with new people, particularly when they reach out to touch his head. He has gotten into tiffs with more assertive pups, but generally doesn't react to other dogs at the shelter and enjoys sniffing them at the fence. He will bark if barked at.
