Meet Philip, a 50-pound Staffy mix with a PhD in toy flinging and a minor in snuggle therapy! Philip is a master of playtime, his enthusiasm for toys rivaled only by his love for quiet cuddles, especially after he's successfully navigated bath time like the star he is. He may be a little reserved initially, but this gentle giant is blossoming with confidence and finding his voice.
Ideal Home
Philip would thrive in a home that understands he's a work in progress. He's good with other dogs of all sizes and friendly with men and women. However, he is not a fan of hands being raised above him, so a home that can offer him patience and reassurance as he learns hands are for petting, not for scaring, would be ideal. Given his moderate to high energy level, an active household that can provide daily exercise and mental stimulation like walks or puzzle toys will be a great fit. We recommend a home with children 10 years and older to ensure the best fit.
Ongoing Health
Philip is a healthy boy ready for his forever home.
Training & Support
Philip is crate-trained and doesn't dig. He has a strong bond with his chew toys, so supervised play is a must! He knows how to "sit," and while his treat-driven enthusiasm is sometimes overwhelming, he is making great progress with this. His leash manners are improving, though he might initially try to lead the walk. Patience and a few well-timed stops will help him get on track.
