Ritchey Roo, affectionately known as Richard, is a delightful fellow estimated to be 5-6 years old and currently weighing in at a robust 90 lbs. He's a unique blend of exuberance and relaxation, always ready for a good lounge session but equally capable of bursts of joyful energy. Richard truly shines when he's with his people, enjoying affection and simply being in your presence. He's a happy boy who isn't shy about showing his joy. While he can be a quiet couch potato, he's also known to go from zero to ten the moment he senses an adventure like a walk or the door opening. He can be gentle, but be prepared for his enthusiastic greetings, especially when food or a leash is involved – he might jump and get overly excited. Richard also has a "hound" in him and can be vocal, but he only speaks when he has something important (and often humorous) to say. He's house-trained and content to relax on his own when you're away. Richard loves to sleep in bed with his human and has learned the command "OVER" to politely ask for a bit more space. He's not particularly interested in toys or games of fetch, but he thoroughly enjoys car rides and walks, though he does require some leash training as he can be a strong puller. Ultimately, Ritchey would be happy lounging at home or exploring a yard. He's not a "velcro dog" and can be independent, which makes him a great companion for someone who appreciates his presence without needing constant attention. He’s done well in foster care and various boarding facilities, where he’s considered easy to care for and good company.
Ideal Home
Richard would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and access to indoor lounging. He is looking for a home where he can be the only spoiled pup, as he is not good with other dogs.
Ongoing Health
Richard came to us underweight and has since gained some weight. He could benefit from a diet and/or increased physical activity.
Training & Support
Richard needs some leash training as he can be a strong puller. He also has a tendency to jump when excited, particularly around food or when you have a leash in hand.
