Rye is a 2-year-old, 56lb (with room to gain!) bundle of sunshine and smiles. He's a goofy boy with a heart full of love, always ready to chase away the blues with his playful antics and endless snuggles. Rye greets everyone like a long-lost best friend, and his affectionate nature shines through in his unique ways of showing love, from playful "hugs" to sweet, attentive leans. He's eager to please and happiest when he's close to his people, whether that's lounging at your feet or offering a kiss.

Ideal Home

Rye would thrive in a home where he can be your adventure buddy and daily dose of sunshine. He enjoys playtime, walks, and a bit of structure. While he could adapt to an apartment with sufficient exercise and enrichment, a house with a yard would be his dream come true. He is social and polite with other dogs, particularly confident with calm, self-assured female dogs. Rye has shown to be cat-tolerant, but slow introductions are always recommended. He adores children and would be a wonderful tag-along buddy, though he may need gentle guidance to manage his excitement around smaller children.

Rye is in good health and has no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Rye can be a bit jumpy when excited, but he's learning that sitting earns more praise. With a little polishing, he's sure to impress with his manners. He is also working on his leash skills, as he can be a bit energetic on walks, but he responds well to corrections and loves treats, making training a rewarding experience.

Rye is located in Texas and can be transported nationwide through our USDA-certified transport system. Transport drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. There is an $87 surcharge for transport. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
