About Cally
Cally is a 3.5-year-old, spayed female, Pitbull mix weighing around 40 pounds. She's a high-energy, happy-go-lucky girl with a huge heart and an even bigger personality! Cally is playful, affectionate, curious, and endlessly kind. She's the type of dog who brings joy and laughter everywhere she goes, and one of her most charming traits is the biggest, silliest smile she gives when receiving affection. She's also a world-class cuddler and will likely need to be told when cuddle time is over. If invited onto the couch, she's on her very best behavior so she doesn't lose her spot. Every now and then, she gets spontaneous zoomies and runs so fast she looks like a baby goat flying through the house! Cally is food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. She loves toys and enrichment and can entertain herself for long periods.
Ideal Home
Cally thrives with daily playtime and chances to run (at least twice a day), plenty of toys, and a person or family willing to keep up with her energy and continue her training. She loves other dogs of all sizes and plays beautifully with both males and females. Another dog in the home would be an amazing bonus for her, though it's not required. She'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as an only dog, as long as she gets plenty of playtime and activity. She is excellent with kids, both small and big, and is always gentle and friendly. She's also very welcoming to strangers and enjoys meeting new people. While she is house-trained, she still needs supervision indoors until she's more reliable, as she may help herself to shoes or blankets.
Ongoing Health
Cally has no known ongoing health concerns.
Training & Support
Cally is fully crate trained, house trained, and does great in a car kennel. She sleeps quietly through the night and can nap during the day as long as she's had potty breaks and at least an hour of play. She does not have separation anxiety. When left in her crate while you run errands, she's usually fast asleep when you return. She does best sleeping alone in her crate; if left loose or crated with another dog, she may get a little mischievous. At mealtime, Cally needs to be separated from other dogs. She has made great progress with food-related resource guarding and does not guard food from humans at all, but she is uncomfortable eating near other dogs or when other dogs are eating nearby. Feeding her in her crate works beautifully and keeps everyone stress-free. She does not guard toys or treats. On leash, Cally may pull at the beginning out of excitement, but once she settles in, she calms down and walks much better. Continued leash training will help her shine even more.
