Garp is begging to be adopted or rescued from our shelter and is growing tired of kennel life. He's an energetic and fun-loving dog, and while we do our best to help him get his energy out, it's nothing compared to the consistent exercise he'd get in a loving home. Garp is in need of rescue urgently due to growing high arousal and rowdy behavior when handled by staff. He displays loose body language and social behavior with people, jumping up and leaning on them to solicit attention. He is very active during play and loves to leap and jump on play structures! Due to his excitability, Garp has a tendency to nip and jump at staff during playtime. This behavior has been redirectable, but would require future management and training by an adopter to prevent escalation. Garp has displayed very social behavior with other dogs and plays well with them. If you're looking for an absolute love bug who could also play for hours, Garp is your man! He had never met his walker before but greeted them with maximum wiggles and enthusiasm, showing off his sit when treats were available. At the end of his walk, he enjoyed a pup cup!
Ideal Home
Garp is looking for a patient and loving adopter who is committed to training him to channel his rowdy behavior into more positive tendencies. He would thrive in a loving home that can offer routine, consistency, and plenty of affection.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Garp can be a little jumpy and mouthy, but is still young and would blossom with some structure and training. His nipping and jumping behavior, while currently redirectable, will need future management and training by an adopter to prevent escalation. He is treat-motivated and can offer a good sit.
