Ishka

Ishka is an approximately 80-pound, 6-year-old German Shepherd mix who is loving, playful, and protective. He's a healthy boy who is up-to-date on vaccinations, though he still needs to be neutered. Ishka is friendly with new people who enter the home after a proper introduction, and he is protective of his people when out on walks. He is good with children but can be a bit too boisterous for very young toddlers due to his size and exuberance. Ishka also gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them, including smaller pups. He has lived with one cat and is doing great! Ishka is house-trained but prefers to spend most of his time outdoors, sleeping in his dog house. He walks nicely on a leash and doesn't react negatively to other dogs he sees on walks. He also rides calmly in the car and loves to play with his squeaky toy! Ishka's people are moving to El Salvador and sadly cannot take him with them, so they are urgently seeking a new loving home for him by March 21, 2025.

Ideal Home

Ishka would thrive in a home that appreciates his protective nature. While he is good with children, his size and playful energy might be a bit much for toddlers.

Ongoing Health

Ishka is healthy and vaccinated. He still needs to be neutered, and a $100 refundable deposit will be required to ensure this is done within 90 days of adoption.

Training & Support

Ishka is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He is protective, so continuing positive reinforcement for introductions to new people will be beneficial.
