Onyx

Meet Onyx, a sweet and charming 7-year-old Chi Dachshund mix who weighs around 20lbs. This gentle girl has a calm spirit and a personality that will bring a smile to your face every day. Onyx is spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on all her preventatives, making her ready to find the loving home she truly deserves. She was rescued from a euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston, and has been showing everyone just how special she is ever since.

Ideal Home

Onyx enjoys a slower pace and would thrive in a home with semi-active to low activity levels, where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She would do best with older, dog-savvy children ages 7-12.

Ongoing Health

Onyx has a bit of arthritis, so a home that understands and accommodates her needs is important.

Training & Support

Onyx is house-trained, sleeps in her crate by choice, and is comfortable being crated for up to 10 hours. She does not resource guard or show food aggression, and can be trusted to free roam. While she gets along well with other dogs, she can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends.

Transporation

Onyx is currently being fostered in San Antonio, Texas. She can be transported out of state to the right approved adopter. Transports run every few weeks, and she will be on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
