Louka is a handsome 2-year-old Pit Mix weighing over 55 pounds who is ready to find the forever family he deserves. He was found roaming the local baseball fields, surviving on whatever he could find. When animal control arrived, they were greeted by a friendly boy who was already neutered and clearly knew many basic commands. It quickly became apparent that Louka had once belonged to someone, but sadly, no one ever came looking for him. Louka made several canine friends during his stay and would likely do well in a home with a canine companion. Cat testing can be arranged if needed. Louka has also attended several school functions and has done wonderfully with children. He's a social, affectionate dog who enjoys being part of the action. Like many young dogs, he has a playful side and will thrive with a family committed to providing regular exercise, enrichment, and mental stimulation. Louka is currently enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program, where he is continuing to build on his foundation of good manners and obedience skills. This program provides daily structure, training, and socialization, helping dogs like Louka become the very best companions they can be. Louka has already shown that he's smart, eager to learn, and eager to please. After everything he's been through, he's ready to leave his days of fending for himself behind and start the next chapter of his life with a family of his own.
Ideal Home
Louka will do best in homes where he is primarily an inside dog and spends lots of time with his family.
Ongoing Health
Louka is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.
Training & Support
Louka is currently enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program, where he receives basic obedience training. He will graduate from Paws in Prison on 8/8/2026. The adoptive family will receive his training journal, which documents his arrival from the shelter, daily training progress, and interactions with the trainers. There will be an adjustment period as he adjusts to his new family schedule.
