About Cody

Cody is a charming 1.5-year-old cowboy Corgi mix, weighing about 25 pounds, who is ready to trot into his forever home! He was found limping on three legs, but after surgery and physical therapy, he's back on all fours, though he sometimes reverts to his old ways due to his past. Cody is a sweet and loving boy who thrives with canine companionship and shouldn't be left alone for long stretches. He's house-trained and crate-trained, though he might get a little excited when you return home! Being a young pup, Cody is still learning about appropriate chew toys, so providing him with safe options like no-hides and bully sticks, along with supervision, will help him settle in. While he's generally even-tempered, Cody can be a bit herdy, so he's best suited for a home without cats and with children aged 12 and up. He walks well on a leash, is motivated by treats, and prefers his own dog bed at night. Cody can be shy in new environments and isn't a fan of car rides, though he's gradually getting used to short trips.

Ideal Home

Cody needs a secure, fenced yard with plenty of space to roam. A moderately active family who can provide him with companionship and mental stimulation would be ideal. He is not a good fit for apartment living. His humans should be prepared for the occasional "Heeler bark" when he's excited.

Ongoing Health

Cody is recovering from an FHO surgery and undergoes physical therapy. While he is using his leg well, there may be times he reverts to using three legs. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

Training & Support

Cody is potty-trained and crate-trained. He can experience excited urination upon greeting. He is still in a puppy stage and learning about appropriate chewing, requiring supervision and durable chew toys. Cody would benefit greatly from a basic manners class to help him bond with his new family, learn new skills, and build confidence.
