Vaquero

Vaquero is a handsome 5-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix weighing 46 lbs. He was found in October 2025, in Edinburg, Texas, near the border. When he arrived, Vaquero was suffering from severe mange and was incredibly underweight and scared. It's a miracle he survived! But, thanks to dedicated care, Vaquero has transformed into a confident and loving dog who is eager to connect with people. He enjoys attention and pets and has fully recovered with no lasting health issues.

Ideal Home

Vaquero would thrive in a home with older, gentle children. He enjoys play but also loves to relax and cuddle. He's happy with a TV, treats, and a good nap. Vaquero also gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and is fine with cats.

Ongoing Health

Vaquero is neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. He has also been dewormed and will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian before transport.

Vaquero is house-trained and ready to settle into a loving home.

Transporation

Vaquero is currently in a temporary sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border. While he is located in Texas, we do not adopt pets within the state. We arrange transport for adoptions to the Central US and East Coast every 2-3 weeks. This adoption fee includes transport to locations such as: Albany and Latham, NY; Wells and Brattleboro, VT; Willington, New Haven, and Dayville, CT; Port Chester, NY; Dayton and Akron, OH; Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA; Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ; White Marsh/Elkton, MD; and Falls Church, VA. Specific locations may vary based on adopter locations.
