Meet Saffron! This approximately 1-year and 3-month-old, 12-pound female is a shy girl who blossoms with confidence and love. Saffron starts off a bit timid, preferring her kennel and observing her surroundings. However, after just a few days, her true, joyful personality emerges! She has formed a special bond with her foster siblings, and we believe she'll thrive in a home with at least one resident dog to continue building her confidence. Saffron enjoys spending time with her foster mom, especially since her mom works from home. She's also quite fond of her foster dad and sleeps soundly through the night. While she's still working on her crate training and potty habits, she's making great progress and enjoys regular backyard time. Leash walking has been an exciting adventure, and with a little practice, she's growing more confident with every step. Saffron can be a bit of a shadow, sometimes "herding" her fosters, but she just loves being close. She's not a fan of her crate after an initial adjustment period and has been left uncrated for up to an hour with no issues. Her previous foster family noted some food possessiveness, so it's important to be aware of potential resource guarding tendencies as she settles in, and to address these with positive reinforcement. Saffron adores soft beds and the company of her canine mentors or her humans.
Ideal Home
Saffron needs a home with at least one resident dog to help her gain confidence. She would do best in a home without young children.
Ongoing Health
Saffron is spayed and up-to-date on rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella vaccines. She has also been dewormed and microchipped.
Training & Support
Saffron is working on crate and potty training. She is a leash puller and can be prone to resource guarding, which should be managed with positive reinforcement.
