About Bear

Bear is a 10-month-old, 53-pound bundle of joy with a heart as big as his youthful enthusiasm! This handsome Labrador Retriever mix is incredibly sweet, friendly, and gets along famously with dogs, cats, and children alike. Bear has a true zest for life and loves making new friends, thriving on companionship with his humans and other furry pals. He’s happiest when he has company and is eager to be part of any adventure.

Ideal Home

Bear is searching for an active family who understands he's still very much a puppy at heart. He has plenty of energy and can be quite rambunctious when excited, so a home prepared to provide ample exercise and mental stimulation is a must. A yard that is adequately and fully fenced is required; electric or underground fences are not accepted. He would ideally do well in a home with another playful dog or have access to doggy daycare to help keep him happy and engaged.

Ongoing Health

Bear is fully vetted, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and kept on heartworm and flea prevention.

Training & Support

Bear is house-trained but is not yet crate trained. He does have one challenge that his future family should be aware of: food-related resource guarding, a consequence of his past experiences on the streets. While he is comfortable and relaxed with his trusted caregiver, he can become protective of his food around other dogs and must be fed separately. This behavior is limited to feeding situations, and with consistent management of feeding times and positive reinforcement training, his confidence and trust will grow, diminishing this tendency.
