Canela is a bright, loving, and full-of-life young Australian Kelpie mix with a heart and spirit typical of her breed. She's intelligent, loyal, and has plenty of energy, making her an ideal companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Canela walks well on a leash and is incredibly friendly and social with both people and other dogs. She has a playful and funny personality, sometimes even "jumping up" like a tiny Chihuahua in hopes of a cuddle! She's curious and always ready for fun, bringing joy and excitement wherever she goes. Canela was found alone playing in the street and has since shown incredible love, resilience, and a wonderful spirit.
Ideal Home
Canela would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open mind about the behaviors of rescued street animals. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, are ideal. She needs a home with high tolerance and patience, and potential adopters should understand that she is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Canela has been spayed/neutered and received DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, as well as Bordetella. She has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. She is up-to-date on her monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra) and comes with a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Canela may get bored if she doesn’t have enough stimulation and may chew on objects, especially plastic. Providing her with plenty of toys and guidance will help her thrive. She may also bark when she hears unfamiliar noises, as she is naturally alert. Potential adopters should be aware that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period, and patience and understanding are crucial for building trust and strengthening your bond. It's important to understand that rescued pets often require time to adapt to new environments and people.
