Florence, also known as Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a 3-year-old, spayed female Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds. She's a playful and energetic girl who loves to wrestle and be chased, and she could play for hours! Flora is a total love bug who enjoys snuggling and is well-behaved in the car. She has a bright personality and is very smart, eager to learn new tricks, and deeply affectionate. While she may be a work in progress, Flora will reward you with years of love and companionship!
Ideal Home
Flora would thrive in a moderately active home where her owner is often around and enjoys outdoor activities like walks, jogs, and playing fetch. She would do best in a home with no other pets, or with a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. She is nervous around new children and exhibits stranger danger when new people visit, so an adult-only household is preferred at this time. Flora is terrified of storms and will seek shelter when they occur.
Ongoing Health
Flora has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, including raised hackles, whimpering, and barking, and has made progress with positive reinforcement. She also gets easily spooked and pulls on the leash, but walks better in calm environments with less activity. Consistent training will be beneficial for her leash skills and for helping her feel safe around new dogs and stimuli. While she exhibits anxiety in a crate at home, she has been fine when boarded. She is housebroken and does not have issues with food or toys, though she needs gentle reminders when taking treats.
