Meet Toby, Freckles, and Hailey! These three beautiful hounds, while no longer puppies, are still working on building their confidence after a very challenging start in life. They were rescued after months of isolation, with their only human interaction being when they were fed. This early lack of socialization has made them understandably wary of strangers and new experiences. In their foster home, they feel safe and have begun to blossom, enjoying playtime with other dogs, toys, and, of course, treats! While they are thriving in their current environment, big changes can still trigger their past fears.
Toby, a handsome coon hound mix, is the most outgoing of the trio. In the safety of his foster home, he's friendly, playful, and enjoys attention. With a little time and treats outside, he warms up to new people. Freckles, possibly a blue tic hound, is also comfortable and happy in her foster home. She's a bit more cautious than Toby but interacts well with people, even strangers. However, new environments can be terrifying for her. Hailey is the most fearful, both in her foster home and around new people. She loves other dogs but is still learning to feel safe with humans and may not be ready for a new family just yet.
Ideal Home
Toby and Freckles are looking for a patient, adult-only home. They need adopters who will give them plenty of space and time to adjust on their own terms, allowing them to approach their new family when they feel ready. A secure backyard is essential as they are not yet comfortable with leash walking. Having another confident, dog-friendly dog in the home would be incredibly beneficial in helping them feel secure and learn that their new environment is safe.
Ongoing Health
These special needs dogs are recovering from the effects of total isolation during their formative months. They were essentially feral when they arrived. They are bright and responsive and will continue to grow and gain confidence with patience and understanding.
Training & Support
Less is more when it comes to initial interaction. These pups need quiet encouragement and ample space to explore their new world. A crate will provide a safe haven for them as they adjust. They are smart and capable of learning with time and positive reinforcement.
