Hippo

Meet Hippo! This spirited and friendly 5-year-old female is a true "North American house hippo" in search of her forever home. Her name perfectly suits her short, squat build and mighty personality! Hippo adores people and loves a good game of fetch. While she's a strong girl at around 55-60 pounds, she can pull on the leash, but with some training, she'll soon learn to walk with a lighter touch. Hippo seems to enjoy the company of other dogs but would likely do best as the sole canine companion, as she's still perfecting her dog-to-dog manners. Unfortunately, she is not a good fit for a home with cats.

Ideal Home

Hippo would thrive in a home that appreciates her playful spirit and can help her with leash manners. She is not a match for homes with cats or other dogs, as she is still working on her dog-to-dog manners.

Ongoing Health

Hippo is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Training & Support

Hippo can pull on the leash but is expected to improve with training. She is also offered a free basic training class at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.
