Lynx is a sweet, shy girl who is still learning to trust people. She has made wonderful progress in foster care, but she remains skittish and will often scurry away when someone tries to pick her up. Lynx needs an adopter who understands fearful dogs and is willing to give her the time, patience, and space she needs to settle in. Her new family should expect that it may take weeks or even longer for her to feel fully comfortable.
While people can be a little scary, Lynx absolutely adores other small dogs. She thrives on their companionship, gains confidence from them, and looks to them for reassurance. Because of this, she will require at least one friendly small dog in her adoptive home. In Lynx's opinion, the more canine friends, the better! She gets along beautifully with all of the small dogs in her foster home.
Ideal Home
A calm, quiet household will help Lynx succeed. Young children make her nervous. She simply feels safest in a predictable environment. A securely fenced yard is a must, as she is a flight risk and freezes on leash.
Ongoing Health
Lynx has some physical limitations. Stairs are difficult for her, and she will need to be carried up and down them. She also cannot jump onto furniture and will need help getting onto the couch or bed.
Training & Support
Lynx is trusted to free roam when her foster family is away and no longer requires a crate or playpen. She sleeps wonderfully through the night in bed with her foster family and is doing very well with potty training when kept on a consistent schedule, rarely having accidents. She should not be left alone all day, however, as she will need regular potty breaks. Lynx gets very excited and vocal around mealtime, loves her freeze-dried raw food, and enjoys settling down with a good chew bone.
