Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate male Rat Terrier, approximately 3–4 years old and weighing about 14 lbs. He's full of personality, loves to run and play, and enjoys being close to his people. Scout truly thrives on giving and receiving affection, making him a wonderful companion. He is very sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him an easy fit for many families. Scout was rescued after a traumatic encounter with larger dogs, but thankfully, he only sustained minor scratches and has shown remarkable resilience and a loving spirit ever since. He is now safe, healthy, and ready to start a new chapter with a family who will cherish him.
Ideal Home
Scout needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He would do best with a family that has a genuine intention to rescue a dog and understands the unique needs of street animals, including their need for protection and education. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, are ideal. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are a must.
Ongoing Health
Scout has been neutered and received vaccinations including DHPPI (2 doses), Rabies, and Bordetella. He has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. He is up-to-date on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available. Please note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period.
Training & Support
Scout is not house-trained. It is important to understand that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and need time to adapt to new environments and people. Patience, understanding, a safe and loving environment, and establishing a routine with clear boundaries will help build trust and strengthen the bond.
