Rocky, affectionately known as "Giddy Up," is a 5-year-old, approximately 50-pound mixed-breed gentleman who was found as a stray and bravely rescued from a shelter in NYC. He's a sweet soul who, despite his initial tough start, has blossomed into an incredibly loving and friendly companion. Rocky's favorite pastime seems to be showering his humans with kisses and snuggling up by their feet while they enjoy TV. He has a charming wiggle-butt greeting for everyone he meets and a tail that never stops wagging. Rocky has a lot of puppy energy for his age and would love to find a family to share his life with, perhaps even a canine sibling to play with!
Ideal Home
Rocky would do great with a family and would love to have a furry sibling. He's excellent with kids and strangers, always greeting everyone with enthusiasm. He also gets along wonderfully with other dogs. While he does chase cats, it's more of a playful interaction, and he backs off when they swat at him.
Ongoing Health
Rocky is neutered and has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Rocky needs some work on his leash-walking skills, as he tends to pull. Using a gentle leader is recommended to help curb this. He is housetrained and will alert you when he needs to go out. Rocky is also crate-trained and settles well overnight and when left for a few hours. He enjoys a frozen treat in his crate to keep him occupied. A behavior to be aware of is that Rocky is a counter surfer, likely due to his unique build with short legs and a long body, allowing him to reach items near the edge. Keeping food out of his reach will be necessary.
