Mighty Joe

Mighty Joe is a 12-year-old, 22-pound Miniature Pinscher mix who is aged to perfection! This lovable lad is the definition of a perfect companion when in the right home. Whether you're heading out for a hike, spending the day at the beach, or curling up with a good book, Joe is happily along for the ride (or the nap). He's wonderfully chill when he wants to be but loves the active life as well. He's the best of both worlds! Joe is a social little guy with a big heart. He greets everyone he meets with an enthusiastic, lightning-fast tail wag.

Ideal Home

Joe would thrive as the only pet in the house.

Ongoing Health

Joe has arthritis in both shoulders, with his right shoulder being severely affected. He is currently on anti-inflammatory medication and pain killers, which have greatly improved his condition. He has also completed heartworm treatment and has a clean bill of health. X-rays revealed a ballistic pellet lodged in his left femur, which does not appear to be causing him pain.

Training & Support

Joe has nipped in foster homes, typically when his harness is being put on or when he is touched unexpectedly. Due to this, his new home will need to be mindful of his space and approach him gently. He can be reactive to other dogs on leash but is improving with training. He may do well with mellow, smaller dogs, but a home where he is the sole pet is preferred. To support his transition, Mighty Joe's adoption includes a $1,000 training stipend for private behavioral support.
