Meet Penelope, a sweet 2.5-year-old Rat Terrier mix with a truly inspiring story of overcoming adversity. She arrived with us from a difficult situation of hoarding and neglect, significantly underweight and initially quite fearful. Her world was very confined, but with dedicated care, patience, and affection, Penelope has made incredible progress in building her confidence, regaining her health, and learning what it means to feel secure. She has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and all necessary veterinary care, and is now eagerly awaiting her chance to become a beloved member of a loving family.
Once Penelope trusts you, she transforms into an incredibly affectionate and loyal companion, often described as a "Velcro dog." Her greatest joy is being close to her person, snuggled under a warm blanket, receiving all the love she was previously denied. She walks beautifully on a leash once she feels safe and is content simply by your side. Penelope is gentle and sweet, and each new experience she embraces is a testament to her remarkable journey of healing and growth.
Ideal Home
Penelope would thrive in a patient and understanding home that will allow her the time and space she needs to adjust to new surroundings. A securely fenced yard, ideally with a privacy fence, is essential to help her feel safe and secure as she settles in.

Penelope has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and all of her veterinary care.
Training & Support
Penelope is leash-trained and enjoys walks. While she is good with other dogs, she can be a little protective of her favorite spot – your lap! She is looking for someone to continue nurturing her confidence and provide a loving environment.
