Shelby is a joyful, affectionate, and playful 6-month-old spayed female Shepherd/Hound/Terrier mix. Currently weighing 39 pounds, she's expected to be a large dog when fully grown, with a distinctively long body type. Shelby, along with her mom and sister, was rescued from a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, after spending 40 days there as strays. She has truly blossomed in her foster home in Washougal, Washington, and is now eager to find her forever family. Shelby is a curious and intelligent puppy who forms deep connections with her people, bringing warmth and making every day feel special.
Ideal Home
Shelby would thrive in an active home that enjoys canine companionship and attention. She needs a family that is patient with puppy training and wants an affectionate member to include in their adventures, whether it's hiking, walking, playing in the yard, or simply spending quality time together. She enjoys the company of other dogs and may benefit from a canine companion, but can also be a happy only dog if her social and activity needs are met.

Training & Support
Shelby is house-training and has made significant progress. While she still has occasional indoor accidents, consistency is expected to lead to quick mastery. She sleeps through the night in her crate and tolerates it, though she prefers to be near her people and other dogs. She may bark briefly when crated during the day but settles down, especially when left alone. Shelby should not be crated excessively due to her social nature. While she shows mild growling with her sister, it appears to be puppy competition for attention rather than true resource guarding, and she has had no issues with toys or treats around other dogs. She is learning basic commands like "sit" and walks well on a harness. Continued basic training and scent-based activities would be beneficial.

Transportation
