Meet Sam! Sam is a sweet but timid terrier mix who's been with us for nearly 6 years. He arrived as a scruffy 6-week-old puppy and, though he found a home once, was returned due to his shy nature. Despite his initial fears, Sam is a quick learner and can become a wonderful, calm companion with a little patience. He tends to be scared of new things until he's sure they're not a threat. Once he gets to know other dogs, he plays wonderfully with them, though he might be a little snappy if they approach him too quickly in a new environment. Sam truly shines once he's comfortable and secure in his home, enjoying games of fetch and even initiating play with his favorite humans. He's house and crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. Sam is about 6 years old and weighs around 30 lbs. He's up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and neutered.
Ideal Home
Sam would thrive in a quiet home environment without children or teenagers. He's a shy boy who warms up slowly and will likely never be a "lap dog," but he's happy to snuggle up beside you on the couch or bed once he feels safe and settled.
Ongoing Health
Sam is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative (tested below detectable levels), and neutered.
Training & Support
Sam is house and crate trained and walks pretty well on a leash. He can be a bit snappy with unfamiliar dogs if they are too boisterous, so introductions should be slow and supervised. With patience and understanding, Sam will blossom into a devoted and playful companion.
