About Honey
Meet Honey! This big, lovable girl is bursting with personality and is looking for a home to call her own. Honey arrived as a stray a little over a month ago in Eastern Washington. The kind folks who found her provided food and attempted to locate her owners, but no one came forward, and she wasn't microchipped. While she got along with one of their dogs, another wasn't so keen. With the arrival of cold weather, the family reached out for help, and Honey joined our rescue.
Honey is an absolute delight and a total love bug. She thrives on attention and is wonderful with people. She takes treats gently. Although she may have spent most of her life as an outdoor dog, she has good house manners, is crate-trained, and after a short adjustment period, she has settled in well with my three dogs. She's not one to pick fights and has excellent social skills with other dogs. She can be a bit strong and forward initially, but after about a week of being loose in the house with my dogs, she's become quite comfortable. She enjoys playing keep-away with toys, but I haven't observed any resource guarding with me or issues with the other dogs, even with many bones available.
She's been with us for nearly two months, and it's clear she hasn't had an easy life. She likely spent time in an outdoor kennel or tethered, evidenced by some scarring on her ears, possibly from trying to escape a confined space. The tip of one ear is also missing from an old injury, and she's had puppies in the past. Sadly, she also appears to have been struck by a human at some point, as a raised voice to break up a minor scuffle caused her to cower in fear. Despite her past, she remains irrepressibly cheerful and makes the best of every situation, her tail always wagging.
Honey is a definite NO CATS girl. She becomes very fixated on my three cats, and I have to keep them separated.
She has been spayed, microchipped, is up-to-date on all vaccinations, and has a clean bill of health with clear lab work. She's an active girl who loves toys, especially playing fetch with a ball. She also adores car rides and is eager to jump in, though she may need a little assistance. While in the car, she tends to bark at external stimuli, particularly large trucks.
Honey is a sweet girl, full of life and personality, and if it weren't for my cats, I'd be seriously considering keeping her.
Ideal Home
Honey would do well in a home with or without other dogs, provided they are a good match. She is not suited for a home with cats.
Ongoing Health
Honey is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. She has a clean bill of health.
Training & Support
Honey can be a bit strong in her initial greetings with other dogs, but she learns quickly and has shown good progress. She enjoys playtime and is enthusiastic about toys and playing fetch. She needs gentle guidance and positive reinforcement.
