Hummer is a funny, quirky, playful, and silly pup who absolutely loves to be by your side. He's a social butterfly, greeting new people with excitement and getting along famously with the resident dogs and cats in his foster home. Hummer enjoys playtime in the backyard and then snuggling up close for a nap. He is a joy to come home to and is sure to bring endless smiles to his forever family!

Ideal Home

Hummer would thrive in a home where his family is present for most of the day and where he has a physically fenced yard for him to explore and get plenty of outdoor time. An invisible fence is not suitable for him. Homes without a fenced yard will only be considered if there's a concrete plan for daily exercise.

Ongoing Health

Hummer is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. He previously had Giardia, which has been successfully treated. As Hummer originates from Greece, where Leishmaniasis is endemic, annual testing for the next seven years is required. This involves a vet drawing blood to be sent to a special lab, with costs typically ranging from $80-$250. His next test is due in November 2026.

Training & Support

Hummer is crate-trained and happily goes into his crate for meals and when left alone for extended periods, keeping his crate clean. He is also good about limiting his chewing to toys and bones. However, due to his age, he should not be left unsupervised for long stretches to prevent him from getting into mischief.

Transportation

Hummer is located in Kalamazoo, MI. We can arrange volunteer transport within a 1,000-mile radius in the USA. If you are located further away, you would need to drive the additional distance, or if flights are deemed appropriate for the dog, you could arrange and pay for air transport. Canadian adopters must pick up their dog within the USA.
