Meet Banks!
Banks is a spirited seven-and-a-half-year-old, 38-pound Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix with a striking merle coat and a heart full of determination. He navigates the world on three legs, a result of an accident that led to a rear leg amputation, but it has in no way slowed him down! In fact, he may be the fastest tripod you'll ever meet, a blur of motion as he rockets after a tennis ball, pivots with athletic grace, and returns for more with bright, eager eyes. Ball is life for Banks, and he'd happily play fetch for hours, making his need for one to two hours of vigorous daily exercise a joyful affair. He is brilliantly trained and thrives on structure, confidently responding to commands like sit, down, stay, heel, place, come, fetch, leave it, crate, and even "good night." This smart, food-motivated boy shines with positive reinforcement and would flourish in agility, working, or farm environments. While he's affectionate and loves to cuddle, leaning into his people with complete devotion, he's generally friendly with other dogs and welcoming toward adults. He does have some resource guarding tendencies around food, so an experienced pet parent who can continue guiding him is ideal. Loud noises like vacuums can make him uneasy, so calm leadership will help him feel secure.
Ideal Home
Banks needs a new loving home with significant outdoor space, no young children, and dedicated caregivers who can match his energy and commitment to training. He also needs someone with experience with his breed or other working or agility dogs who understands the drive, intelligence, and daily structure that help him truly thrive.
Ongoing Health
Banks is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is missing a rear leg but is otherwise healthy and very active.
Training & Support
Banks is brilliantly trained and eager to please. He would benefit from continued guidance in managing resource guarding tendencies around food and a calm leadership style to help him feel secure around loud noises.
