Miss Skylar is a beautiful 5-year-old female Black and Cream Dachshund who weighs just under 8 pounds. She has a long coat and is up-to-date on all her vaccinations and has been spayed. Skylar has a past where she wasn't well-socialized, which has made her a bit shy around new people. However, in her foster home, she's blossomed into an absolute sweetheart who loves to snuggle! She enjoys her walks and is learning a lot from the other dogs in her foster home, including the resident cats, with whom she peacefully coexists. Skylar is a small dog with a big heart, and once she trusts you, she'll be your most loyal companion, perfect for quiet evenings with a good book or movie.
Ideal Home
Skylar needs a home with a securely fenced yard, as she requires one. She would also benefit from having another small, well-socialized adult dog to continue learning from. She needs a patient owner who can be home often to help her feel secure and confident. Due to her breed and barking tendencies, apartments, high-rises, or condos are not suitable. She does best with children over 11 years old who understand how to give a dog space, and it's preferred that there aren't many children frequently visiting the home. She should not be placed in a home with large dogs, as they tend to frighten her.
Ongoing Health
Skylar is up-to-date on all her medical needs. She was spayed on 4/9/26 and is current on her DHPP and Rabies vaccinations, with dates extending to 4/30/26.
Training & Support
Skylar is working on her house training but is already crate trained and leash trained. She will need ongoing patience as she continues to build confidence around new people.
