Axel

Axel is a handsome 2-year-old Boxer mix, weighing in at 54 lbs. He has the confident demeanor of a dog who knows what he wants, and the athleticism to go after it! Axel was found abandoned, but we know it's only a matter of time before he finds his perfect match. He approaches life with enthusiasm, turning his walks into exciting adventures, and he loves to carry around anything he deems important, like sticks or ropes. Axel is a smart cookie, highly motivated by food, and quick to learn when given clear and consistent guidance. He thrives with a calm, confident owner who appreciates his independent spirit.

Axel is friendly and thoughtful with people, preferring to observe before deciding you pass the "vibe check." He'd do best in a home with older children who understand personal space, and adults who appreciate a dog with a distinct personality. When it comes to other dogs, Axel is social but enjoys his independence. He gets along well with opposite-sex dogs and enjoys company, though he doesn't need a crowded house to feel complete. He can be a bit bossy during playtime, but it's more about taking charge than aggression. Axel prefers calmer environments and is happiest when he's not in charge of managing everything. He's not a fan of cats.

Axel is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to settle down once his needs are met. His energy level is moderate; daily walks and some playtime keep him balanced, and afterward, he's happy to relax nearby. He could adapt to apartment living with consistent exercise, but a home with a yard would be a dream come true!

Ideal Home

Axel is looking for laid-back, dog-savvy humans who understand that the best dogs aren't perfect – they're real! He needs patience, structure, humor, and someone who won't panic when he takes the leash and says, "I've got this." He would do best in a home with children 10 years and older and no cats.

Ongoing Health

Axel is up-to-date on vaccinations and has been neutered.

Training & Support

Axel is mostly potty and crate trained, and knows how to settle. He can be a little jumpy and excited on walks initially but settles down. He needs clear and consistent direction, and an owner who is calm and confident. He can be a bit bossy during play with other dogs.

Transporation

Axel is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to his perfect forever home by our rescue. We have transports departing each week!
