About Brownie

Brownie is a 4-year-old male Labrador mix, weighing about 35 lbs. He was rescued as a puppy after suffering from severe mange, which left him with some scars and patches of white fur. Brownie is very energetic and anxious. He loves to chew and has worn teeth from gnawing on wood, plastic, and anything he finds. He knows how to use a crate but does not tolerate being confined and becomes very stressed. He does not walk on a leash yet and can be anxious during transport. Despite his challenges, Brownie is extremely social and affectionate. He loves people, enjoys visitors, seeks attention, hugs, and pets, and is very playful (though he destroys toys easily). He has a funny fascination with water and loves to play with it whenever he can. Brownie has spent 4 years in the shelter and has never had a walk. We truly believe that with exercise, structure, patience, and love, he could thrive in a home environment. Brownie is a sweet, friendly dog looking for a committed adopter willing to help him channel his energy and give him the life he deserves. It's essential to recognize that our dogs may have experienced trauma before arriving at ADAC. As a result, they may require an adjustment period in a foster or permanent home. Patience and understanding are absolutely crucial when dealing with rescued dogs.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard is a must. An active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be a great fit. Families with a real intention to rescue a dog, not just adopt, and with an open conscience about the behaviors of street animals needing protection and education are ideal. Experience in dog behavior and training is highly preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer is necessary. High tolerance and patience for rescued animals are also essential. Brownie does not tolerate confinement well and becomes stressed.

Ongoing Health

Brownie was rescued as a puppy after suffering from severe mange, which left him with some scars and patches of white fur. He has completed the following health protocol: Spay/Neuter Certificate, 2 shots of DHPPI Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Bordetella Vaccine, Dewormed, Microchipped, 4DX Test and Certificate, Heartworm test Negative Certificate, Monthly Preventive Protection Nexgard Spectra (fleas, ticks and heartworm), and Health Certificate. He also has a Vaccines booklet.

Training & Support

Brownie needs help channeling his energy and has a strong chewing habit. He does not walk on a leash yet and can be anxious during transport. He is not house-trained. With exercise, structure, patience, and love, he could thrive.
